The Wedding of Mr and Mrs C H Morris (5th October, 1941)
The
above is a wedding photograph taken during World War 2. It shows the wedding
of Mr and Mrs Morris. Mr Morris was on leave from the Royal Navy. The couple
spent a week in Scarborough before Mr Morris left again for the Navy. The couple
never saw each other for another four years.
Mrs Morris recalls:
"My wedding day was a very happy occasion despite all the worries we had.
During the wedding reception, we had to eat food such as tinned ham and salad.
The wedding cake was made of chocolate icing. Many of my friends and family
had given ration coupons to help with the reception and clothes for the wedding."
