PPE production heroes

In partnership with local schools and businesses, our Technology department produced PPE for those on the front line

As part of Leighton Park School's 'Safer Vision PPE Partnership', our Technology department joined with 18 local schools, a university and three businesses to produce much needed PPE for the keyworkers working on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lead by our fabulous Technology teachers, Mrs Carpenter and Mrs Hastings, we joined forces with Leighton Park and their collective of local organisations all wanted to make a difference. Collectively the group raised £28,000 to fund the materials and produced 37,000 face shields which were delivered to around 500 organisations desperate for vital PPE. Little Heath Technology department were proud to produce around 800 full face visors.

As a school we were also able to support direct requests from members of our LHS community who had requested PPE to protect them on their jobs, along with donating whatever PPE we had available in Science and the Technology departments. The visors we contributed to the 'Safer Vision PPE Partnership' were sent to a variety of different front line services including the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Austen House Care Home, Brookside Surgery and Reading Borough Council to mention a few.

Well done to Mrs Carpenter and Mrs Hastings for their dedication and hard work to produce this vital PPE equipment. We are so proud to have been able to help in a time where we can all feel so helpless.
