OFSTED

Following our latest inspection in February 2018, we were delighted to share the positive outcomes from the offical OFSTED letter with our students, their parents/carers and other members of the wider Little Heath School community. The report confirmed our ongoing status as a "good school", at the same time recognising our commitment to moving positively forward to improve outcomes even further for all our students.

STUDENT SUCCESS

The inspection success was very much down to our students, who were amazing on the day of the inspection, as they always are. Those students who met the inspection team, formally or informally, were positive about the school, and at the same time articulate and constructive, even when talking about areas where they would like to see improvement in the future. We are very aware of the impact that our students had on the inspection team's overall judgement.

STRONG TEACHING AND LEARNING

Our shared vision for success at Little Heath centres on the quality of teaching and learning at the school, with our aim being that students enjoy their lessons and are excited by their learning in all subject areas. The inspection team found teaching and learning to be good overall and "significantly improved" since 2014, particularly in terms of assessment, reporting and our use of aspirational Bronze, Silver and Gold targets for students. Overall, the report reads very positively - OFSTED have recognised that governors and staff, including the leadership team, are "ambitious and passionate about improving the quality of provision for all pupils, particularly the most vulnerable."

MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER

However, this does not mean that we are complacent. The report comments on inconsistencies in the quality of teaching in a minority of lessons, and this is something that we are already addressing. We will continue to strive for further improvement, placing particular focus on the ‘next steps’ that Ofsted have identified in their report.

The inspection was very much an effort by the whole school community: parents; staff; governors; students. Everyone deserves credit for the inspection outcome in what was a fantastic team effort. Thank you again for your support, which we know will continue as we strive to improve the school further to become outstanding.

PREVIOUS INSPECTION REPORTS

We think it is important that you share our journey as a school over the years, as we continue to be ambitious for our students and strive for further improvements. For this reason, we will continue to make earlier OFSTED reports available, as well as subject specific reports, as they are published. The monitoring report letters written by our attached HMI inspector Judith Rundle between 2012 and 2014 make for interesting reading, as they show how the school has responded to the demands of the new inspection framework, while never taking the focus away from the most important element of our work - the children themselves. These reports are also available for download below.

OFSTED reports are also available on the OFSTED website (www.ofsted.gov.uk).
