Prospectus & Curriculum

Our online prospectus provides an excellent introduction to our school and its values.

At Little Heath we aim to deliver a broad, balanced and coherent curriculum to support and inspire all students to achieve their very best. We are an ambitious school where students are encouraged to be aspirational and possess a positive growth mindset; setting high standards for themselves, whatever their starting point. Our school’s community is committed to supporting all students to become lifelong learners, equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to succeed in their chosen path. Through academic, practical, creative and vocational subjects, students will acquire the resilience, independence, confidence and integrity to face, understand and contribute to the challenges of life in the 21st Century. We strive to foster inquisitive and questioning students who are curious about their learning and the wider world.

We aim to deliver this vision through a curriculum that emphasises both subject expertise and wider personal development, thus fostering strong values and developing character.  We are a school where examination results matter and success is celebrated, but where the development of core values and qualities are just as important.

We believe that students learn as much outside the classroom as they do in it, and that trips, visits and other activities, including music, sport and performance, are extremely powerful influences on young people. From the beginning of their time at Little Heath School, students will be encouraged to involve themselves in a range of sporting, musical, dramatic, cultural and artistic experiences. Our Duke of Edinburgh programme, student leadership opportunities and extensive careers programme are further examples of the enrichment offered to all students. Our vibrant praise system and House events reward effort, commitment and participation as much as they reward excellence. We want students to become well-rounded individuals who can engage fully within society, whatever their chosen careers, pursuits or interests.

Through our inclusive curriculum we endeavour to ensure that no child shall suffer a limit to their ambition and achievement. The curriculum and teaching strategies work together to remove barriers to learning, aid social mobility and ensure that students can achieve in line with or above expectations, regardless of background.

Our curriculum does not stand still, it is ever evolving; embracing new technologies; striving to improve further the quality of education for students in our care. Our curriculum enables students to be the best version of themselves that they can be and to follow their dreams.
