Welcome to our weekly News Bulletin: Friday 25 October 2024

CULINERA NEWSLETTER

Culinera, our new catering company, have completed their first half-term at Little Heath. Please spend a moment to read their October newsletter where they share what they have been up to over the past six weeks.

You can also find out how to use your daily allowance, which is increasing to £7.50 after half-term, to get the best value throughout the breakfast, break, lunch and after-school services. Read more in the newsletter.

We hope you have seen improvements in response to the staff and student survey over the summer. There is a follow-up survey in the newsletter. We would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete this over half-term.

WINTER FESTIVAL AUDITION
Thursday 14 November

The annual 'Winter Festival' is Little Heath School's formal Christmas concert, which incorporates a mixture of performances from the ensembles who have been rehearsing since September with solo and smaller ensembles from students selected through an audition process.

Audition information
The audition is after school on Thursday 14 November in M10. Please ask students to sign up on the sheet attached to the Music Office door.

The 'Winter Festival' concert is on Thursday 19 December at 7pm in the Main Hall (students who are successful in the audition will be performing at this event).

The audition is open to all year groups.

We ask they audition a piece with a Christmas theme - it doesn't necessarily need to be a Christmas song, but could be a song or piece of music that is associated with Christmas or played at the time of the festive season.

Any questions - please speak to a member of the Music Department.

WEST BERKSHIRE WASTE & RECYCLING NEWS

Battery recycling
If you live in the West Berkshire Council area, you can now put dead batteries in your kerbside recycling. Please leave your used batteries in a clear plastic bag on top of your black wheelie bin on collection day.

Pumpkins
Did you know, a scary 18,000 tonnes of uneaten pumpkins are thrown away each year in the UK after being carved?! Once your pumpkin is carved and hollow you can use it for compost, or it can be chopped up and placed in your kerbside food waste caddy where, for West Berkshire residents, it will be turned into a soil conditioner at our facility in Padworth.
