Welcome to our weekly News Bulletin: Friday 13 December 2024

This will be our final News Bulletin of the school term. The next issue will be on Friday 10 January. The December LHS Connected newsletter will be sent out next Friday with articles and photographs of activities from the past month.

LAST DAY OF TERM

School will close for the end of term at 1:00pm on Friday 20 December.

The restaurant will operate the normal break time service. However, there will be no opportunity to purchase food after break time. Students entitled to Free School Meals may make use of their allocation at breaktime.

Students are free to leave school after dismissal by their tutor at 1:00pm to travel home. Please be aware that, due to changes in the Reading Buses process, our school buses will NOT leave school until the usual scheduled time of 3:25pm.

If your child needs to remain at school between 1:00pm and 3:25pm, in order to travel home safely via the school buses, please complete the form via the following link so that we can make the necessary arrangements:

https://forms.office.com/e/AgjxAYSRfx

The deadline for completion of this form is 3:25pm on Monday 16 December in order for us to make the necessary supervision arrangements. Please note that we will not be able to accept any names after Monday 16 December. If this form is not completed, we will assume that your son/daughter is leaving the school site at 1:00pm.

School reopens for staff and students on Monday 6 January 2025.

YEAR 9 IMMUNISATIONS
Deadline Friday 20 December

The NHS Immunisation Team will be visiting us on Monday 27 January 2025 to offer two routine childhood vaccinations to our Year 9 students:

  • Meningitis ACWY – to protect against 4 types of bacteria that can cause meningitis, click here for more information.
  • Teenage booster dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio, protecting against the serious illnesses they can cause (which completes the 5-dose programme, offered from 8 weeks of age in the UK). Click here for more information.

To enable the Immunisation team to account for all eligible young people we kindly request that a YES or NO consent form is completed by the person with parental responsibility. Please follow the instructions below to complete a YES or NO consent form:

  • Visit the Immunisation Team consent form website via the following link.
  • Insert your email address and your child’s school’s unique code BK110063
  • Submit the form by Friday 20 December to ensure your child receives their vaccinations. If you experience any problems accessing the form, please telephone 0300 365 0077 and the team will be happy to help you.
  • Please only submit one form per child. If you are unsure that you have completed a form, please check your emails for communication from Cinnamon Digital or contact the Berkshire Immunisation Service.

More details can be found on the letter sent home by email on Friday 13 December.

CONTACT WITH SCHOOL OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY

Staff will not be checking their emails after 1pm on Friday 20 December until we return on Monday 6 January so please do not expect any response from staff over the Christmas holiday. The “office” email at Reception and the "smile@littleheath.org.uk" email will also not be monitored for the duration of the Christmas break.

As we have done over previous holidays, we wanted one point of call for emergency contact or safeguarding matters that you feel you need to pass on during the Christmas break. Please note that this email is for emergency or Safeguarding matters ONLY and should not be used for “routine queries”.

This email is: concerns@littleheath.org.uk

This inbox will be monitored on the following days over the Christmas holiday:

  • Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 December until 3pm
  • Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 December until 3pm
  • Thursday 2 January and Friday 3 January until 3pm

Please note that the "concerns" email will not be monitored over weekends or over the Christmas period or on the New Year Bank Holiday. From Monday 6 January 2025 onwards, please contact school in the normal way.
