As we are fast approaching the end of the school year, June has been a busy and productive month, marked by key milestones, exciting events, and plenty of student achievement.
In KS3, Year 7 students have completed their first year at Little Heath, and our Year 8s have been working towards their graduation, and enjoyed a well-deserved trip to Thorpe Park to celebrate.
KS4 students have been taking part in a number of trips and careers opportunities this month, including Year 10 Mock Interviews with business professionals. You can read more in the articles below.
Our Year 12 students have also had a valuable few weeks, taking part in Work Experience, Futures Day and the Careers and Higher Education Fair. I cannot express how fantastic and well attended the Careers Fair was. The event provided excellent opportunities for students to explore future options, speak with employers and university representatives, and start planning their path ahead.
And of course, our Year 11 and Year 13 students have now completed their summer exams. We’re proud of the hard work and commitment they’ve shown over the past months, and we can't wait to celebrate their achievements with them on results day in August.
One of the highlights of the month was our annual Sports Day, which brought the whole school together for a day of friendly competition and great team spirit. Congratulations to Conway, who came out on top and took home the trophy.
In this month’s Student Spotlight, we’re celebrating a range of sporting successes, both in and out of school. From athletics to Taekwon-do and boxing, it’s been great to see so many students representing their teams with enthusiasm and determination.
Finally, a big well done to everyone involved in this term’s school production, "Once Upon a Stage". The performance was a great showcase of creativity and talent.
As we head into July, we look forward to rounding off the term on a positive note and celebrating everything our students have achieved this year.
Mr David Ramsden
Headteacher

In the run up to Sports Day, students took part in events including Shot Put, Javelin, Long Jump and the 1500 metres. These events are crucial when it comes down to Sports Day and of course, the all important end of year House results!
Well done to all of our spectators, athletes and staff who took part in Sports Day. It was a fantastic afternoon! An even bigger thank you must go to our amazing PE Department for organising the afternoon!
The results for Sports Day are...
4th: Warwick
3rd: Arundel
2nd: Stirling
and in 1st place... Conway!!!

Year 7 History Trip - Hampton Court Palace
Almost 90 Year 7 students went to Hampton Court Palace to take part in their first ever Schools Festival. The morning was all about how Henry VIII prepared to go on his royal progresses (tours) around the country.
Students took part in several interactive historical activities, including Tudor dancing, listening to Tudor music, preparing food, and even jousting. Students found out about how the Tudors kept track of the monarchs' spending and how they made and fitted Tudor armour.
After lunch, students were able to tour several parts of the Tudor section of the Palace. They learnt about why Henry VIII built Hampton Court, and considered the Tudors' links to the wider world, as well as how ordinary people might have experienced Hampton Court.

Our Year 10 students recently took part in a Mock Interviews event run by Education Business Partnership. All students had to prepare their CV and be interviewed by a volunteer from local businesses.
Multiple business volunteers attended to enable each student within the year group to participate in a 15-20 min interview slot which included feedback and advice from the interviewer.

Senior Student Leadership Team 2025-26
We are incredibly proud to announce our Senior Student Leadership Team for 2025 / 2026. All of these students worked incredibly hard on their applications and throughout the interview process. This group of 11 students will be an integral part of the Little Heath School community over the next academic year, and we are so excited to see what positive changes they can make!
Well done to all the students who applied to be part of the Senior Student Leadership Team. All the applications and interviews were very impressive and all students should be so proud of themselves!
We also want to say a huge thank you to Aaron and Zoe, and the team of students that formed the SSLT this year. They did some incredible work over the past academic year and we wish them all huge success with their exam results and theirs futures beyond Little Heath.

Laura Competes at European Taekwon-do Championship
Earlier this term, Year 8 student, Laura, was selected to represent Great Britain at the European Taekwon-do Championships in Tallinn, Estonia.
Unfortunately, Laura didn't take home a medal on this occasion, but she was very happy with her performance at her first European Championships, and she had the most amazing experience!
|
|
Laura showed true grit and determination after she injured her foot in the middle of her fight. However, she didn't give up, and she saw the fight through to the end! We are so proud of her achievements. Well done Laura!

Amelia goes 30 Days Wild
Year 8 student, Amelia, is a member of the Eco-Committee and regularly attends the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust BBOWT Teen Rangers sessions. During June, the Rangers were challenged to take action for wildlife at home.
|
|
Amelia decided to bake for wildlife, and made a bird-friendly feast of sandwiches, chips, curry and a dipping sauce! The robin visiting her garden appeared to enjoy the gourmet treat! If you want inspiration for your wild June, sign up here: buff.ly/YpO18pK
Amelia also saved a stag beetle from harm by moving it to safety. The stag beetle is our largest land beetle - but don’t worry, they are harmless. In fact, they desperately need our help.
These amazing creatures used to be a common sight, especially in the south of the UK, but sadly they are declining and at risk of becoming extinct. If you've seen a stag beetle, make sure you log it here: The People's Trust for Endangered Species - Stag Beetles. The website also has ways you can support these beetles in your garden, including building a log pile.

LHS Alumni makes it to the Final of BBC Glow Up
Well done to former Little Heath student Jade, who made it to the final of BBC's make-up competition Glow Up, series 7 this month.
Throughout the series, she has created some amazing make-up looks, well outside of her comfort zone.
|
|
Known as the 'queen of glamour', she aspires to be a celebrity make-up artist. We hope her time on Glow Up will open some doors for her to achieve her goal.
We wish you every success for the future, Jade!
