KS3 end of term message:
As we reach the end of a busy and successful term, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the many achievements and uplifting moments we've shared across Key Stage 3 at Little Heath School. It’s been a term filled with growth, kindness, and countless reasons to celebrate.
Our Year 8 students enjoyed a fantastic day out at Thorpe Park to celebrate their graduation to KS4, where their brilliant behaviour and enthusiasm were a joy to witness. They represented Little Heath wonderfully, and we’re so proud of how they embraced the day—laughing, supporting each other and making great memories.
This term we also hosted an incredible Year 6 Transition Day, welcoming the next generation of Little Heath learners to the LHS Family. A huge thank you to our Year 7 ambassadors, whose warmth, leadership and encouragement helped make the day a great success. To thank them for their hard work, they’ve been treated to a cinema celebration afternoon—a well-deserved moment of fun and relaxation!
Across KS3, we’ve seen a fantastic attitude to learning and the development of positive relationships between students and staff. Whether it’s in the classroom, around school, or out in the community, the values of kindness and respect have shone through, creating a culture where every student feels they belong and can thrive.
As we come to the end of a busy academic year, we do so with a real sense of pride in our students and excitement for all that is to come.
Wishing all our students and families a restful, happy and safe summer. Thank you for your continued support.
Ms K Button
Deputy Headteacher (KS3)
Each year our Year 8 students work through our graduation programme. Graduating into KS4 means: making a positive contribution; having a positive impact on yourself and others through learning, attitude and behaviour; personal development; positive contribution to classes, the school, relationships and our community.
Through a range of challenges and tasks completed both in and out of school, students are challenged to think more about themselves and what they do. Graduation provides an opportunity to celebrate successes, but also encourages students to think differently, try some different things and start KS4 with a positive attitude!
The programme culminates in a celebration event where students and families come together to celebrate all achievements. This year we held a wonderful evening of performers, honouring our prize winners, and celebrating the successes of KS3 as they move onto KS4.

They also went on a well deserved trip to Thorpe Park which was thoroughly enjoyed by all! Well done Year 8s! You have worked hard this year and should all be very proud of your achievements!
KS4 end of term message:
As we wrap up another fantastic academic year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey our KS4 students have been on. From unforgettable trips to academic milestones, this year has been filled with determination, growth, and plenty of fun along the way.
Year 11 – A Triumphant Finale
Our Year 11 students have truly risen to the challenge this year. With focus, resilience, and a strong work ethic, they tackled their GCSEs head-on. The dedication shown in revision sessions, classroom discussions, and independent study has been nothing short of inspiring. We are very proud of each and every one of them. It wasn't just hard work all year, with a careers trip to Newbury College and a memorable Give Something Back Day celebration real highlights of the year.
Of course, no Year 11 journey would be complete without a celebration—and what a celebration it was! The Year 11 Prom was a dazzling highlight, filled with laughter, dancing, and well-deserved recognition of all their hard work. It was a night to remember and a perfect send-off for a remarkable year group.
Year 10 – Growing into Leaders
Year 10 have made impressive strides this year, showing real maturity and a growing sense of responsibility. They’ve embraced the challenges of their GCSE courses with enthusiasm and have started to develop the habits and mindset needed for success in Year 11.
This year also saw Year 10 take part in two unforgettable trips. The Battlefields Trip offered a powerful and moving insight into the realities of war, deepening their understanding of history and the human stories behind it. Meanwhile, the PGL Trip gave students the chance to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience through a range of outdoor challenges. Both experiences helped strengthen bonds within the year group.
As they look ahead to their final year of KS4, the challenge is clear: return in September with a growth mindset, ready to work hard and achieve highly.
Year 9 – A Strong Start to KS4
Transitioning into KS4 is no small feat, but our Year 9 students have made a fantastic start. They’ve shown curiosity, energy, and a willingness to engage with new subjects and expectations. Their enthusiasm was especially evident during the Ninja Warrior trip, where they tackled obstacles with courage and teamwork—an excellent metaphor for the journey ahead!
We’re excited to see how this year group continues to grow and develop as they move deeper into their GCSE studies next year.
Thank You
None of this would be possible without the dedication and care of our incredible staff. A heartfelt thank you goes to all the teachers and tutors who have supported, challenged, and inspired our students throughout the year.
A special mention must go to our KS4 Pastoral Team, whose tireless work has ensured that every student feels supported, valued, and ready to succeed. Your efforts make a world of difference.
We hope that all our KS4 students and families have an enjoyable and safe summer break.
Mr J Coulson
Deputy Headteacher (KS4)
Year 9 - Re:Designers with Design Nature
Year 9 Technology students took part in an environmental design workshop with Mark and Erica from local Community Interest Company, Design Nature.

With their design and sustainability credentials, they worked with the students to delve deeper into the topic of waste. Through collaboration within their groups, students developed designs to combat waste such as chewing gum, plastic bottles, broken jewellery and batteries.

There were innovative solutions, including robot machines which scrape gum from pavements and electricals powered by bicycles.
With the Design Council on a mission to upskill one million designers in green skills by 2030, we hope some we have inspired our Technology students to become future ecodesign engineers and designers!
Year 10 - Cultivate Business Competition
Some of our Year 10 Business students recently took part in an interchool business challenge called Cultivate sponsored by Zebra Technologies. The students had to come up with a new product and business idea connected with Zebra Technologies. Three Little Heath School students, Omera, Romero and Josh, were shortlisted and made it into the final nine students out of 310 from across Berkshire.
We are very pleased to announce that Omera went on to win the whole competition and the £500 prize! Omera came up with the idea of Healthios. Healthios is a scale and app which provides the nutritional value, vitamins and minerals for a meal, targeted at people who are trying to lose weight and also those with health conditions such as diabetes.

We are so incredibly proud of Omera, Romero and Josh for putting so much effort into these different projects! Well done to you all!

Our Year 11 students celebrated their Prom in style at Wokefield Park. It was a fantastic evening filled with laughter, dancing and plenty of memories to mark the end of an incredible five years together.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to all of our students for making it such a special occasion. We are so proud of everything you have achieved and wish you all the very best for the future, whether you’ll be staying with us for Sixth Form in September, going off to college, or embarking on an apprenticeship!

We will look forward to seeing you all again on Thursday 21 August for GCSE Results Day 2025!

However, we also remind our Year 12 students that September will bring a busy start with PPEs and further preparations for your final year. Use this time wisely to begin your revision and set yourself up for success.

Warm regards,
Mrs S Chaventré and Mr Jessop
Deputy Headteacher (KS5) and Head of Sixth Form
This summer, Hungry Holidays, an initiative by the West Berks Foodbank, once again provided vital support to our school community. The programme offers a one-off delivery of essential provisions to help families during the summer holidays by supplementing their weekly shop.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the food bank and the dedication of our Sixth Form volunteer team, we sorted 55 crates of food and household items. These were then organised into 20 separate deliveries for LHS families. While some families were able to collect their provisions directly from the school, we were pleased to use the school minibus to deliver them to those who couldn’t make it in.

We would also like to bring to your attention the services of Northcroft Kitchen, which is open to all families who may be struggling to make ends meet. This service operates from Newbury Cricket Club in Northcroft Lane and is open after school every Monday from 3.30pm. Nutritious meals are served to both adults and children in a family-friendly setting. During the school summer holidays (28th July, 4th, 11th and 18th August) the opening hours will be extended, and it will be open from 2.30pm with food being served until 4.30pm. Families do not need to prebook - they can just turn up on the day. Further information can be found on the Northcroft Kitchen Facebook page.
With exams finally over, our Year 13 students enjoyed an evening of celebration at The Old Mill in Aldermaston for this year's Prom.
They had a wonderful evening together in the sunshine, with a DJ, wood-fired pizza, a fun photo booth and more!
It was fully deserved after all their hard work this year, and a fitting end to their time at Little Heath School.

We look forward to seeing them on Thursday 14 August for A Level Results Day, and to wish them well with their futures beyond Little Heath.

Sixth Form Induction & Year 7 Transition Day
Sixth Form Induction Day
We were delighted to welcome 166 students to our Year 12 Induction Day this month, including many Year 11s from Little Heath and other local schools, following over 190 registrations for Sixth Form this September. With the help of our newly appointed Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT), our fantastic Sixth Form staff, and, of course, our subject teachers, we ensured that prospective students got a real taste of life at Little Heath School Sixth Form.

Students took part in subject-specific taster sessions, fun activities with members of our SSLT and Sixth Form Team, and “Operation AquaGuard” with Mr Jessop and Year 12 students, where they designed creative contraptions to protect their three water balloons for a fall from height!

Thank you to everyone who attended the induction day. We hope you found it both informative and enjoyable!
Year 7 Transition Day
Over 250 Year 6 students from 31 different primary schools visited Little Heath this month for our Year 7 Transition Day. The students went on a tour of the school, took part in a number of activities, met their tutors and even took part in the first House Competition of the 25/26 Academic Year!
Thanks to over 40 of our Little Heath Year 7 students who helped out with all the different activities.
Our annual Summer Concert showcased another fantastic evening of talent, brought to you by our music department, and their incredible musicians. We were so pleased to see some of our Year 11 and Year 13 students return to take part in this year's concert, and it was lovely to see some new faces this year too.

The theme was 'Where in the World' and saw performances including 'Empire State of Mind' sung by the Girls' Choir; Green Day's 'When I Come Around' performed by Year 10 band - Daniel, Oscar, George and Shiloh; 'Pirates of the Caribbean' by the Junior Band; and 'Take It From Here' played by Year 10 pianist, Eden.

We also took the opportunity to present our Musician of the Year Award to Year 10, Diago, and Year 11, Calvin, for their contribution to the Little Heath School musical community.

Well done to all our performers this year! We look forward to seeing what next year brings!
