UNIFORM
Outcome of Unannounced Inspection

We conducted an unannounced uniform inspection yesterday for all students in Years 7–10. We are pleased to share that the overwhelming majority of students were dressed to a very high standard and looked extremely smart.

If your child had a uniform concern, this will be recorded as a behaviour point on Arbor. If you do not see a point on Arbor then there were no issues identified with your child's uniform. The main issues identified included:

  • Students having phones in their pockets rather than turned off and in their bags
  • Skirts rolled up so they are too short
  • Tight trousers or leggings
  • Flared trousers
  • Trainers instead of school shoes
  • Excessive jewellery
  • Coloured nail varnish is not allowed, and false nails must not be worn

Tutors will carry out another round of uniform checks next week, and we will continue to complete unannounced inspections alongside our regular weekly line-ups.

Please refer to the letter emailed home today with more information. Full details of our uniform expectations can be found in our policy here: Little Heath School | Uniform

We are very grateful for the continued support from families and appreciate all those who consistently meet our expectations.

TRIAL LUNCHTIME CHANGES
From 17 to 27 March 2026

We are currently exploring the possibility of reducing our lunchtime from 45 minutes to 35 minutes from September 2026. This would mean that school would also finish ten minutes earlier, at 3.15pm. Before any decision is made, it is essential that we understand whether this would be workable for students and staff, particularly in relation to food service and movement around the site.

To help us test this, we will be running a lunchtime food service trial from Tuesday 17 March to Friday 27 March.

Reducing lunchtime by ten minutes may offer several advantages, including an earlier finish to the school day, helping improve attendance at after-school intervention sessions and enrichment.

This trial does not mean a final decision has been made. If the trial indicates that the reduced lunch period is not viable, we will not pursue it further. If it is viable, we will then explore other implications of a shorter lunch break and an earlier end to the school day. Parents and carers are welcome to share any initial thoughts or questions by contacting Mr Coulson, who is leading this piece of work. His email is jcoulson@littleheath.org.uk.

You can read the full details here: LHS Trial change to lunchtime - March 2026
