WHAT IS TELLMI?
Information for Parents/Guardians

Tellmi is a free, safe, and anonymous mental health support app available to your child, thanks to NHS and local authority funding. It provides a moderated space for young people to talk about their feelings and connect with others who understand.

We know you may have questions about your child using a digital mental health service. To help you understand exactly how Tellmi works, including their commitment to safety and moderation, Tellmi has created a short information booklet.

ONLINE SESSIONS
Reading IASS for SEND

The Reading IASS for SEND will be holding four online events in June/July for parents/carers with children with SEND.

Parents who have attended the training in the past report that the sessions are clear, informative and engaging; and feel in a better position to respond to and engage with tailored support where they need it from the IASS.

The sessions are tailored according to the age (primary/secondary) and whether the child has an EHCP.

  • For those without an EHCP, they explain the responsibilities of schools and the LA, ordinarily available provision, the importance of effective communication, what an EHCP is and when they are needed.
  • For those with an EHCP, they explain what the different sections (eg B and F) mean, how to get the best from an Annual Review, family views forms, and school moves.

They also have a specific session on preparing for adulthood for those in year 9 and above. There will be plenty of time for Q&A for you to ply what you hear to your own situation.

The information flyer is below, and you can also find out more here: https://www.readingiass.org/events/

YEAR 7 Notices

BICYCLE SAFETY
Reminder of Expectations

We have recently identified some concerns regarding Year 7 students cycling to and from school, particularly in relation to their safety. At the start of Year 7, students wishing to cycle to school will have applied and agreed to the terms and conditions of the LHS Bike Licence. In doing so, they would have agreed to the following expectations:

  • Students must dismount and walk their bicycles at all times while on the school site. Cycling is not permitted on school grounds.

  • Students must adhere to the rules of the road when cycling to and from school, including riding on the left-hand side and behaving in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Students must not carry passengers on their bicycles. This includes riding with another student on handlebars or any other part of the bicycle.

  • Students must wear a helmet during their journey to and from school to ensure their safety.

  • Students must follow all instructions given by Little Heath School staff regarding bicycles, including stopping and dismounting immediately when instructed to do so.

This week, during tutor time, we will be addressing these issues and reminding students of these expectations again. If your child has not completed a Bike Licence, they can do so here: LHS Bicycle Licence

We would greatly appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child at home. Please be advised that if concerns continue regarding a student’s behaviour while cycling, they may no longer be permitted to cycle to and from school.

Thank you for your continued support.
