KINDNESS WEEK
W/C 17 November

Being kind makes others feel good and makes the world a nicer place. What's not to love? This month, to mark National Kindness Day, we will be introducing Kindness Week for all our Year 7 students. During this week, we will be focusing on ways students can look out for one another and show some kindness!

Students that demonstrate kindness that week will be rewarded with stamps on our Kindness Loyalty Card and will have the chance to be entered into a prize draw. They will also have the chance to nominate staff and students who make their day a little brighter!

If you are working at home to encourage your children to be kinder to others, you might be interested to know there are wellbeing benefits to being kind. Read the article from 'The Parents' Guide To...':

NATIONAL GREEN CAREERS WEEK

Here are 5 reasons why you should consider a green career...

🌍 Protect the environment – Green careers directly contribute to solving global challenges like climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. You’ll help make the planet healthier for future generations.

💼 Growing job opportunities – Sustainability and clean technology sectors are expanding rapidly. Fields like renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and green building design are creating millions of new jobs worldwide.

💡 Innovation and creativity – Green careers often involve designing new solutions—such as eco-friendly materials, renewable energy systems, or waste reduction strategies—offering opportunities for innovation and problem-solving.

💰 Long-term stability – As governments and companies adopt sustainable practices, demand for green skills continues to rise, making these careers more future-proof than many traditional roles.

❤️ Meaningful work – Working in a green career allows you to align your values with your profession, giving you a sense of purpose and fulfillment by making a tangible difference.

Here are some resources to work through with your child to support National Green Careers Week this week:

  • Try this short quiz! It highlights the students' strengths and interests and matches them with the types of green careers that they would suit. It's a lot of fun and I think students will really enjoy doing this as well as learning a lot at the same time: Green Careers Quiz
  • Help your teen explore meaningful, future-focused careers. This quick parent guide covers routes after GCSEs/sixth form, examples of green jobs across sectors and tips for work experience. Download here: www.theparentsguideto.co.uk/nationalcareersweek
  • Watch this short video which outlines what a green job is in a fascinating and pacey way: What is a Green job?
  • These short videos offer an insight into a wide range of green jobs. Have a look at some of the roles out there that might inspire your teen: Green Careers Week 2025 – Green Careers Hub
