TIME TO TALK SESSION FOR PARENTS/CARERS
Mental Health Information Evening, Monday 6 October

As part of our ongoing efforts and work to support our young people with their wellbeing, we have been working with Time To Talk, a Newbury based counselling service. Time To Talk have been offering counselling and support to children and young people in West Berkshire for over thirty years.

To coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10 October, we have invited Time To Talk to host a mental health and wellbeing information evening at school aimed at those living with or supporting a child or young person. This information evening for parents and carers is on Monday 6 October at 6:00pm in the Main Hall.

If you would like to attend this event, please could we ask you to complete the form via the following link:

We are opening this session to all parents of all year groups. More information was emailed home earlier this week.

CHARLIE'S PROMISE TALK FOR PARENTS/CARERS
Knife Crime Presentation, Wednesday 15 October

Over the last year, students from Year 11 through to Year 13 attended a powerful assembly by Martin Cosser, the founder of Charlie’s Promise. Charlie’s Promise is a charity that was created in memory of Martin’s son Charlie, who sadly lost his life to knife crime in 2023. Charlie was 17 years old, and was not involved in any criminal behaviour.

As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding our young people, we will be welcoming Martin back into school on Wednesday 15 October to deliver the same presentation to parents. All parents and carers are welcome to join us from 5:30pm, with the presentation beginning at 6:00pm.

We do not have a knife crime issue at Little Heath School, but we are committed to working to protect our young people from becoming victims of knife and weapon-related crime through education, information and intervention.

As places are restricted, tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis through the following link: Charlie's Promise talk – 15/10/25. For more details, please see the letter emailed home last week.

NEWBURY COLLEGE CAREERS FAIR TRIP
Thursday 9 October

We wrote to you recently about our exciting free Y11 Careers Event at Newbury College on Thursday 9 October, where we will be taking the whole of our Year 11 cohort. Please be aware that there will be no timetabled lessons during periods 1–4 on this day.  The trip will return for Period 5 only, so students will need to be in full school uniform and will need equipment for this lesson only.

If you want your child to attend this excellent career and higher education opportunity, you MUST give permission via the 'consent' button on ParentMail.

We have put together the following instructions, which we hope will help to clear up any confusion:

  • From ParentMail 'shop' you will need to select the 'Y11 Destinations Expo' trip into your 'basket' (even though it is a 'free' event).
  • Once you have added the trip, proceed to the checkout where you will be prompted to 'click the consent' button.
  • This consent button is for permission to attend this trip, and separate from the Annual Medical and Consent form.

If you have any questions, please contact office@littleheath.org.uk.
