Work Experience


Cisco Work Experience – Applications Open

Applications for Cisco’s July Pathways Work Experience, for young people in Years 11 & 12, are now open. You can find more information on the Cisco website or apply using the links below.

Dates: 8-12 July


Option 1- Hybrid in Feltham, West London or Didsbury near Manchester (2 days in office & 3 days virtual)

Please be careful and make sure you apply for the programme you want to attend. If you intend to attend the hybrid programme you should research where the offices are and make sure that you can get there.

Last year we had over 200 applications so may close early this year if we exceed that number. So please apply early and don’t leave it to the last minute.

The programme will provide opportunities to learn about Cisco and the IT industry. You’ll hear from technical teams and business teams. There’ll be a challenge that you work on as a group and then present to our Cisco judges and we’ll be learning about and practising employability skills such as interviewing and CVs. We will also be developing presenting, team working, employability skills and building confidence through online modules and interactive sessions. Your passion is our interest. This is a full five days of learning opportunities. You will need a device, preferably with a camera, to join the virtual meetings. A laptop is best, with a tablet and then a phone in the order of how to get the best experience.

Virtual STEM WX

Are you interested in pursuing a career in engineering, science, or anything to do with STEM? Would you like to gain some rare and invaluable work experience with multiple global FTSE companies? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!


We are excited to announce that on Wednesday, 3rd of April from 9am - 3:30pm, we will be hosting a virtual work experience day with Spectris, Malvern Panalytical, HBK and Servomex! Spectris are a FTSE company and own all the other science and engineering-based companies mentioned above. Collectively they operate in over 30 countries, employ over 7,500 people globally, and have generated a revenue of over a billion pounds as of 2024! Each of the companies Spectris owns specialises in a very specific areas of science and engineering and during this work experience day you will get the opportunity to take part in workshops and network with each of their companies.


Participating in an event such as this will not only allow you to learn more about industry, but it will also give you a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience that will be beneficial for adding value to your CV and LinkedIn profile. This will show employers (including Spectris) that you are proactive and looking to develop your skillset before entering the workplace, which can help you to be recognised as an ambitious and motivated individual as well as allowing you to stand out from other students.

Virtual WX in Easter Holidays with KPMG

KPMG are hosting a work-experience day on Thursday 4th April from 10am – 4pm in the Easter Holidays and we would love for you to attend. During the day, you will have the opportunity to learn key employability skills, such as how to communicate your message and build your personal brand, you will also have the chance to meet KPMG colleagues to hear about their career journeys and even complete a business pitch challenge!

ARUP – Summer Design Work Experience

The ‘Arup Design Programme’ is a creative, engaging and inspiring work experience

programme focused on giving students aged 14-17  insight into the day-to-day life of

engineers, designers and consultants working within the built and natural environment.


LSBU: Sustainability Work Experience

This virtual work experience programme will introduce you to a range of net zero careers with the help of the LSBU Green Skills Hub, supported by Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark councils. Here, you’ll explore core areas such as retrofitting, low-carbon heat and energy, green infrastructure and more.

There are 19 Open Days for the month of April and whilst not every Year 12 student has begun to think about post-18 opportunities, this list can be a great starting point.

LSE – Bookings Open for Y12

Bookings are now open for LSE's Undergraduate Open Day on Wednesday 17 April.


Aimed at Year 12 students applying for entry in 2025, the Open Day is an opportunity for your students to explore the LSE campus, attend subject talks, meet current students and gain an insight into what it's like to study at the School.
