Strike Action - Wednesday 5 July and Friday 7 July 2023
School plans for the strike action taking place on Wednesday 5 July and Friday 7 July 2023.
As you are aware, further strike action has been planned for Wednesday 5 and Friday 7 July, next week. Our current plan is that Little Heath School will remain partially open on those two days. It will not be possible to keep the school fully open due to the potential number of staff members taking strike action.
Arrangements for Wednesday 5 July
Year 12
-
Sixth Form students should attend school for normal lessons. This will be a taught lesson if their teacher is in school, or supported self-study sessions where their teacher is taking strike action.
-
Lunch will be available in Café 6 for Year 12 students.
Year 10
-
Year 10 students will be timetabled for a two-hour session in school, either in the morning or afternoon, with the following schedule:
-
Morning session - in school from 8.50am-10.50am: Tutor groups 10ASH, 10NHA, 10LHO, 10CSM, 10TLU
-
Afternoon session - in school from 1:25pm-3:25pm: Tutor groups 10RGL, 10ERO, 10MSU, 10 KEL, 10JED
-
Please note that these sessions are not optional, and students should attend at their allocated times.
-
We will use this opportunity to help Year 10 launch into Year 11, their final GCSE year, as well running a session to support with their English studies. Sessions will be run by the Senior Leadership Team and other staff.
-
When not timetabled to be in school, Year 10 should continue with independent work at home, following guidance from teachers on Satchel One.
-
The Canteen will not be open for students at break or lunch, and food should be eaten at home before or after coming in to school. Y10 students who receive FSM can collect a lunch from Café 6 in Sixth Form either before or after their session. Please notify us before Monday 3 July if your child would like a FSM via email office@littleheath.org.uk
-
The school bus will be running at normal times, but students will have to make alternative arrangements to go home after their morning session, or to get to school for the afternoon session.
-
Students should arrive in good time for the start of their sessions, and should report to the Canteen on arrival for registration.
Years 7-9
-
All other Year groups from Year 7 to 9 will be provided with work on Satchel One. They should follow a timetable of lessons for five hours of different subjects.

Although these plans have been drawn up carefully, it is possible that the situation could change, so we will update parents on Tuesday with our final plans. We thought it was best to give you as much notice as possible of our intentions.
We recognise that the strike action may cause potential disruption to you and your child and therefore may be frustrating. We ask that all members of our school community treat each other with respect.
