Insight Events & Work Experience

 

Y11 Students – Allied Health Profession Open Day – 17th July 2026

Our AHP teams will be offering an information morning for Yr 11 students who may be interested in AHP careers on Friday 17th July 2026.

This will involve an Introduction to the AHP areas, hearing from current AHP apprentices/students about their experiences and a chance to then talk to staff from the different AHP areas we have at RBH on stalls.  We wanted to aim this at Yr 11s as they will be the next year group considering work experience when they finish GCSE exams and start 6th form or college. (To avoid any students being disappointed please note we do not cover Paramedics - this is through - Youth Engagement - SCAS Jobs)

As a trial event we are offering this to a few schools only. We would very much like to extend an invitation to your students who have an interest in finding out more about AHP careers to attend. The event will be held at our Trust Education Centre, Craven Road, Reading RG1 5AN.

If you have students who would like to attend, please ask students to complete the registration form to attend. As places are limited, we are asking that students only complete this if they are sure they are able to attend. Applications will close when all places are full, or on 22nd June at 5pm latest.

Rutherford Appleton Laboratory: Engineering Your Future

Real Estate Opportunities

  • Mount Street Paid Summer (August) Internship

We would like to provide four paid one‑month internships in the Mount Street London office for partners of the Academy this year, one in each of the following teams:

  • Asset Surveillance EMEA
  • Primary Servicing CRE EMEA
  • Corporate Debt and Structured Finance
  • Marketing and Communications

The aim is to give participants practical, structured experience within a single team for the duration of their internship, so they gain a realistic understanding of day‑to‑day work in the City. Supporting early talent in a meaningful and accessible way is important to us, and community engagement remains a key part of our brand. Further details are attached. Please ask students to express interest with a CV and Cover Letter, as there will be a heavy screening process.

The Internship will pay £15 an hour and will run from the 3rd of August to the 28th of August. Interviews will be held in the last weeks of July, and the submission of interest deadline is the 12th of July. Please submit your interest with a CV and Cover Letter.  Students will first speak with an Academy member, and I will put them forward for interviews at Mount Street if suitable. This is 3 days from the 27th to the 29th of July at the Delancey offices, getting to know their staff (job roles) and gaining exposure to their current projects. Very limited space available for year 10 and upwards. Please confirm interest with a student blurb about their interest in Real Estate.

Both programmes are for those from backgrounds which research shows are less likely to secure opportunities at prestigious firms / universities and are focused on improving access to the legal industry.

 

CMS Law Scholarships

Since 2012, we’ve helped some of the brightest and most creative legal minds launch their career through the CMS Law Scholarships programme.

10 successful applicants will benefit from:

  • Financial support (£3,000 per year) for each year of their degree
  • Mentoring during their UCAS applications and LNAT examination
  • A trainee buddy to provide more informal support with starting a career in law
  • Ongoing support and guidance throughout their undergraduate studies and beyond, including budgeting workshops and graduation celebrations

 

Eligibility

Scholarships are aimed students who will be the first generation in their family to go to university. There are also certain financial criteria that students need to meet. To apply, students will need to complete an online application form, including a written question on what law they would change and why. Applicants will also complete a video interview and attend an assessment day, which includes a group exercise and an interview.

If invited to an assessment day, this will take place in London. CMS will cover the cost of travel and accommodation for the student and, where required, an accompanying adult.

 

Work Experience (CMS Connect)

CMS is a founding member of PRIME, an organisation formed by various UK law firms committed to improving access to the legal profession.

During the sustained programme of support, students will develop skills that all employers look out for, not just those in the legal profession. This happens through:

  • 5 days of paid work experience this summer (3rd August – 7th August 2026)

Successful applicants can also be spring-boarded to the CMS Solicitor Apprenticeship or Insight programmes.  We will be running CMS Connect across our London, Bristol, Sheffield and Glasgow offices.

Scholarship Sheme For Studying a Chip Related Course at University

Would £4,000 a year convince you to study a subject that leads to a career in chip design?

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) is offering scholarships worth £4,000 per year to support students studying chip-related degree courses at UK universities.

The scholarship can provide £4,000 per year for each remaining year of study, up to a maximum of four years, subject to final terms and eligibility requirements.

Next Steps Bristol – Applications Open

Next Step Bristol is a free widening participation programme designed to support talented Year 13 students from Black, Asian and other racially minoritised backgrounds as they explore higher education and prepare for university study.

Students who take part in the programme have the opportunity to:

  • Experience what learning at the University of Bristol is like through an academic taster session.
  • Learn more about student life, wellbeing and support at university.
  • Explore future careers and hear from University of Bristol alumni.
  • Connect with current University of Bristol students and staff.
  • Visit the University of Bristol campus and experience university life first-hand.
  • Access additional support throughout the university application process.
  • Students who successfully complete the programme may also become eligible for a guaranteed contextual offer or guaranteed interview, depending on their chosen course and provided all programme requirements are met.

Who are we looking for?  To get a place on Sutton Trust Online students need to:

  • Attend, and have always attended, a state-funded, non fee-paying school/college.
  • Be coming up to/at the end of Year 12 (England and Wales), Year 13 (Northern Ireland) or S5 at the time of application. We also accept applications from students in the first three weeks of S6 (Scotland). Please note that, with the exception of S6, our year group admissions criteria refers to the year groups students were in during the 25-26 academic year, and not the year group they will soon be entering into.
  • Have achieved at least four GCSEs at grades 9 – 6 (A*-B) or achieved four A or B grades at National 5

In addition, students must also meet one of the following social mobility criteria:

  • Would be the first generation in their family to gain a degree/degree-level qualification.
  • Have been eligible for Free School Meals whilst at secondary school.
  • Have been looked after or in care.
  • Live in a neighbourhood with a low rate of progression to higher education or a high level of socio-economic deprivation AND Have attended schools with a lower than average progression to higher education, or a higher than average proportion of students who qualify for Free School Meals.
  • Students who applied to our Guided Programmes (Pathways to the Professions, Access Apprenticeships and UK Summer Schools) and met the STO criteria, will have been automatically enrolled in Sutton Trust Online.
