We have an exciting opportunity for your students – our award-winning and completely free digital programme Sutton Trust Online has now opened for applications.

By joining Sutton Trust Online, students will have the opportunity to:

• Ask questions to current university students and apprentices using STO chat
• Enjoy expert personal statement support based on what universities are looking for
• Get admissions test and interview support
• Attend webinars and taster lectures delivered by universities, including admissions staff

We are offering a 6-month PAID work placement as part of the Artswork Breakthrough programme, as a Workshop and Events Assistant:

• The Breakthrough programme is open to any young person between the ages of 18 –25, with qualifications gained up to school or college level.
• This is aimed at young people who have found securing a meaningful job in the Arts a challenge. (It is not suitable for those on a degree placement year or an MA programme).

Computer Science Scholars Year 13 – Free STEM Opportunity – one week left to sign up!

This is a final reminder that students have one week left to sign up to Computer Science Scholars Year 13! This is a fully-funded programme for your current Y12 (soon to be Y13) students interested in studying Computer Science at university. You can find full details on our website, and students have until 15th July to sign up. The Computer Science Scholars Year 13 Programme is designed to support female and non-binary students in making strong, competitive applications to Computer Science degrees. The programme combines university application guidance with academic mentoring to help students feel confident and well prepared for undergraduate study in Computer Science. 

Programme overview (October 2026 – April 2027, all online): 

University application support: 

wo small-group sessions led by a PhD tutor, focused on the Computer Science application process. You will receive:

• Tailored advice on choosing courses, writing personal statements, and navigating university applications. This will be complemented by UniPrep information, advice and guidance webinars. 
• Academic mentoring: 
• Eight small-group sessions with a PhD tutor, focused on developing the Maths knowledge and skills needed for Computer Science at university. 

Sessions will run 1–2 times per month, usually after school. 

Eligibility criteria - To take part, you must: 

• Be in Year 13 in 2026/27 
• Attend a non-selective state school 
• Identify as female or non-binary 
• Be studying A Level Maths 
• Be interested in studying Computer Science at university

This summer, we’re offering two brilliant virtual work experience opportunities. Both are completely FREE to join and are open to students aged 14–16 (Years 10 & 11). I’ve included the details below which may be the easiest way to share the opportunities with students. FREE digital programme from the Sutton Trust

A final reminder that applications for Sutton Trust Online (STO) are now open! STO is a FREE digital programme which helps students explore, apply, prepare for and succeed at university or an apprenticeship. Why apply? 

Access to STO will place eligible students in good stead to apply to competitive universities, courses, apprenticeships and industries. Some of the things students can access on STO are: 

• OSCAR, a personal statement builder offering step-by-step guidance to help students write an outstanding personal statement
• STO Chat (TAP), where students can speak to our alumni, student ambassadors and apprentices for advice, tips and insights on their post-18 steps
• A host of expert-led webinars, including taster academic content, and information and guidance sessions, delivered by our leading university partners and organisations

Who are we looking for?

In short, to be eligible for STO, students must:

• Currently be in Year 12 (England and Wales)
• Have achieved at least four GCSEs at grades 9 – 6 (A*-B),  or achieved four A or B grades at National 5.
• Attend, and have always attended, a state-funded, non fee-paying school/college
• Meet at least one of our social mobility criteria (e.g. eligible for Free School Meals)

Y12 Free Oxbridge/Medicine Programme (25-26)

Free Year 12 Oxbridge/Medicine Programme, which provides students with crucial insights and inspiration for applying to highly competitive universities. This year, we have expanded the free programme, combining live lectures and 1:1 sessions, with 6 hours of total support across the year. Drawing on our latest research, we share high-impact, practical guidance on applications that have helped our learners achieve a 43% Oxbridge success rate, compared to a national average of 16%. Over the past 3 years, we have supported over 4,300 students from UK schools through the free programme, so we thought your current Year 12 cohort might also be keen to take advantage of it.
