Work Experience for Future Doctors Y10 – Y12
A good record of work experience is fundamental to any medical school application. As we recognise that this isn’t always easy to access for many students, we run a free virtual six month medical work experience programme. When they complete the full six months, they will be awarded a Work Experience certificate to use as evidence in their UCAS application.
This is a fantastic opportunity for years 10-12 considering medicine, so I would really appreciate it if you passed this on to your students.
A new session is released every month, and January’s session on emergency medicine is now live. Students can enrol here: https://wexlibrary.yourmedicfamily.org/courses/medic-mentor-work-experience-emergency-medicine/
As part of their application, it is also essential that students attend a free, virtual Get into Medicine conference. Work experience is just one aspect of a medical school application, and applicants need to understand the entire process. Registration link: https://airtable.com/shr66li3bqG3ZpkPM
Dr Siva and I will show your students how to approach every part of their UCAS application, including:
- Choosing the right university
- Writing a personal statement that gets noticed

- Applying for scholarships to study medicine
The next available dates are:
Saturday 14th January (10am - 3pm)
Sunday 15th January (10am - 3pm)
The Get into Medicine conference and medical work experience programme are invaluable to encouraging students to apply to medicine and reducing barriers to getting into medical school. Highlighting these opportunities to your students make a real difference. Thank you.
