RSSL – Information Evening Y13
8th February, with 2 slots – either 5.30-6.30pm or 6.30-7.30pm
I wanted to share an exciting opportunity coming up at RSSL. We are pleased to be hosting an Apprentice Open Evening during National Apprentice Week 2024, for prospective students and their parents. There will be a quick introduction presentation from myself about the company, how apprenticeships work and the kind of work they’d be doing, as well as the chance to have a look around a couple of our labs and meet some of our current apprentices. This will be on the evening of 8th February, with 2 slots – either 5.30-6.30pm or 6.30-7.30pm.
Unfortunately, due to limited space we will have to cap the number of people able to attend, so would appreciate if it could be shared with specifically those in Year 13, and studying e.g. Chemistry A-Level, BTEC Applied Science/Forensic Science etc…
Please find below the sign-up link which I would be very grateful if you’re able to share with students/parents, and of course any questions do please let me know.

Creative Careers - Online industry insight: Focus on visual effects (VFX)
Wednesday 31st January, 10 - 10.45am
We're thrilled to be working with our partners at Framestore for this live industry insight event, famous for bringing characters from films such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Paddington and Avengers to life.
Visual effects (VFX) is the art of combining computer-generated imagery (CG) with live-action pictures. Think of the dinosaurs in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom or the final battle in Avengers: Infinity War. If a scene in a film can’t be captured on camera, it’s made through the ingenuity of VFX.
There are lots of different types of roles in this thriving sector, from artists, programmers, producers, managers and many more - it's home to a full spectrum of skill sets, from art to STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths). Many roles also require both set of skills.
During the session, your students will hear from members of the Framestore team who have worked on Loki Season 2 . They will share more about their specific roles and their involvement in the series and also discuss their own career paths before offering some tips and advice for young people wanting to enter the industry.

Focus on film and television with ScreenSkills
Friday 22nd March 10am – 10.45am
Movies and television programmes are big business! But what does it take to get a film or TV programme from idea to screen? Production companies need a range of skills from carpenters, accountants, lawyers and much more.
