With AI transforming how we work, it’s natural for students to question what the workplace will look like by the time they leave school.
In the past, automation replaced repetitive manual work. Today, AI is reshaping jobs across every industry, from finance to healthcare.
We’ve launched a series of free online workshops to help students explore these changes. The first session looks at how AI is shaping the workplace and what it means for the choices they make now, followed by an interactive workshop where they’ll take practical steps to prepare for their future careers. Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital : Work Experience or Observerships
Work experience at RNOH is an unpaid, short-term placement, undertaken by students wishing to learn about a particular job or area of work. It offers an opportunity for students to find out what skills employers look for when they are recruiting for a position and provides them a chance to develop their self-confidence and communication skills.
There are many aspects to healthcare from nursing to medicine, management to finance, surgery to psychology, therapies to pharmacy, and IT to administration – all of which support this organisation in its vision of delivering world-leading quality patient care.
RNOH does not currently offer a centralised work experience programme. However, there are many responsible clinicians and staff in senior posts who would be willing to support a few placements per year.

Stem Potential Year 10 Programme - For students interested in studying STEM
Explore the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths to gain a better understanding of which subjects you may want to study at A-level. Across Years 10 and 11 you will take part in lectures, workshops and on-campus events to gain a feel for university life, working closely with Imperial academics and students. All our events run in-person so you will need to live within one hour of Imperial's South Kensington Campus. Students stay on the programme for two years. After year 11, students who meet the eligibility criteria will progress to years 12 and 13.

Faculty of Medicine Workshop: Careers in Life Sciences - An Exciting New Opportunity
For teachers of Years 10-12 students who are interested in STEM careers
When students become interested in biology as a subject they are often directed towards medicine or similar clinical courses. But there’s a huge range of careers that require a life sciences-based degree rather than a medical qualification.
The Faculty of Medicine Science Education Team can send successful scientists with diverse backgrounds to discuss career opportunities and strategies for choosing the most appropriate undergraduate degree. We will highlight courses at Imperial that enable students to create real change in the world. Additionally, we will provide a preview of a new and exciting degree planned for launch in 2027.

RCSU Science Challenge 2026 - For teachers and young people in Years 11 to 13
The Science Challenge is the Royal College of Science Union's annual science communication competition. It gives young scientists the opportunity to develop the skills to talk about science in a way that is engaging and fun, to people who don't necessarily have a science background.
The competition involves producing a short piece of science communication in answer to one the questions set by our guest judges. With exciting prizes and a wide range of interesting questions, perfect for showing off your skills, this year's Science Challenge promises to be a very exciting competition.

Discover Economics Student Conference - Wednesday 11 February 2026 with Imperial and LSE
For teachers and students in Year 12
Imperial Business School and the London School of Economics are hosting a Discover Economics Student Conference for Year 12 students. The conference will explore economics in real-world contexts, provide insight into studying economics at two leading universities, and offer opportunities to connect with current students and academic staff through engaging and interactive sessions.
Students must be studying A-level Mathematics to attend. There are 8 spaces available per school.
This opportunity is for teachers or school coordinators to register interest on behalf of students. Priority will be given to school and college groups that meet our contextual admissions criteria.

What are the summer school programmes?
The Sutton Trust Summer School programmes offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in university life. They will walk away with the confidence and skills needed to choose where to apply and what to study, be a competitive applicant wherever that is, and find support with a network of like-minded peers.
All costs including travel, accommodation, food and activities are covered by the Trust and our partners which means it is completely free of charge for students to attend.
On the programme, students will:
- Experience university life - spending up to a week at one of our partner universities attending lectures, living on campus, making friends, and taking part in social and academic activities.
- Explore their future subject - students can choose from over 40 different courses, from History to Engineering. With over 15 hours of teaching, they will get the chance to explore the subjects that they are passionate about. It will also look great on their university application, should they apply.
- Make new friends - they will meet with other students from similar backgrounds to them who share similar passions throughout their week at University.
- Access university application support - our Sutton Trust Online programme will provide expert and personalised support throughout the university and apprenticeship application process, so their Sutton Trust experience does not end in the summer.
