Work Experience & Insight Events

 

Fantasy Wings – Sponsored Pilot Places Available

We are pleased to announce that British Airways, easyJet and Manchester Airport Group have collectively sponsored 600 spaces for Schools, Colleges and Universities on the 25/26 Fantasy Wings programme

The Fantasy Wings programme aims to equip young people aged 13-25, particularly those from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and young women, with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the aviation industry. Our partners include leading aviation organisations in the UK, such as British Airways, the Civil Aviation Authority, easyJet, Virgin Atlantic, Manchester Airport Group, The CAA and NATs. The programme runs in person in London, Birmingham, and Manchester on one Saturday each month for ten months, beginning in October. We also have several work experience and practical skills opportunities available with our partners at the end of each programme

 

As part of the programme they will:

  • Learn how to become an Airline Pilot
  • Explore Aviation Careers such as Engineering, Air Traffic Control, Leadership, Regulation, Airport Operations and much more
  • Be in with the chance to win one of 3 fully funded Private Pilot Licences at the end
  • Be in with the chance to win one of 50 fully funded trial flights at the end
  • Recieve an accreditation at the end for use professionally

Just flagging our last Apprenticeship Fair of the year, taking place 16th June 16:30 to 19:00. This event is the perfect opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about how apprenticeships work to attend and gain valuable insights from employers actively looking for apprentices.

A number of employers will be in our Lower Concourse ready to chat about their vacancies, so students are encouraged to bring a CV! This event would be ideal for year 10s or 11s, but anyone is welcome to ask questions. 

Only one ticket is need for the student looking for an apprenticeship, but their supporters are more than welcome to attend with them. The tickets are bookable here:

Students interested in Neuroscience

Reading University are hosting the Neurosparks event again this year on 23rd and 24th July. This was run last year and was very popular, so it is definitely a good one for students to attend who have an interest in neuroscience. It is aimed at students in years 12 and 13, it is a 2-day event, but students can attend just one if they are not able to attend both days.

Medical Virtual Work Experience Programme

There is less than a month to register for our annual free Medical Virtual Work Experience Programme running from Monday 23rd June – Thursday 26th June with daily sessions from 09:00 – 12:30.

This free programme allows students in years 11 to 13 to virtually take part in clinical consultations, answer clinical questions, reflect on the patient-doctor interactions and start to understand what a patient and a doctor may be thinking during a consultation. Through practical lessons (such as 'how to take blood') and Q and A with medical students, resident and senior doctors, sixth formers can find out what medical school is like and gain insight into the fast-paced, complex world of being a resident doctor in the NHS. Days 1-3 include clinical sessions, interactive simulations, panel discussions and guidance on how to apply for medical school. Day 4 explores other healthcare professions including nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and more!

UCAT Preparation Webinar (New)

We are pleased to lauch our annual UCAT preperation webinar running on Monday 30th June 2025 from 17:30 – 19:30.

 You will hear from the Imperial Admissions tutors about details of the UCAT exam and how they are used in the Medical admissions process and deep dive into each section of the UCAT exam with tips and approaches on how to deal with questions. You can test your knowledge by completing a Live UCAT Mock Exam as well as getting advice from current Imperial Medical students on what resources to use and how to structure your revision.

BFI Film Academy Academy 2025 Production Management Residential - Applications now open!!

Screen Education Edinburgh are excited to be accepting applications for our brand-new BFI Film Academy Production Management residential! We will be inviting a group of talented 16 to 19 year olds from across the UK to take part in this amazing BFI opportunity from the 26th of July to the 2nd of August 2025.

We would be truly grateful if you could kindly share this opportunity with the young people you work with and encourage those who may be interested to apply. Please see below more info about our course.

Course

Over 8 immersive days, selected learners will gain hands-on experience in core production roles, such as producer, line producer, production manager, and assistant director, while working in teams under the guidance of expert film educators and industry mentors. The course covers essential areas like location management, budgeting, scheduling, and health and safety, and includes exclusive masterclasses and studio visits with professionals from major UK and international productions!

Applying

For anyone aged 16 to 19 living in the UK with a passion for film production. People currently at university (or will be at the time of the course taking place) is not eligible to apply.

Course Fees

The course is fully funded by the BFI and is free to all accepted onto the course. This covers food, course costs and accommodation. We also have travel bursaries available if needed.

The deadline for applications is Monday 23rd June 2025.
