Uniform
We are proud of our school uniform at Little Heath School, as it represents the sense of community and belonging that is so important to our school ethos. We want students to be proud to wear the Little Heath School badge, and to recognise the importance of having a smart appearance both in school and within the wider community.
All students in years 7 - 11 are expected to wear:
- LHS white logo polo shirt – red logo for lower school (Years 7 and 8) and silver logo for upper school
(Years 9, 10 and 11). - LHS logo v-neck jumper – red logo for lower school and silver logo for upper school. Hooded tops and cardigans are not allowed.
- Smart black tailored school trousers as identified below. No other styles are acceptable.
- Smart, plain black school skirt as identified below. No other styles are acceptable.
- Smart, tailored black shorts are allowed during warm weather. No other styles of shorts are acceptable.
- A plain, dark waterproof school coat for outdoor wear only.
- Black shoes that are suitable for school – plain, polishable, with a low heel, without obvious logos, tags or coloured lace ends. Polishable black trainers (such as Air Force Ones) are acceptable as long as they are fully black, and all tags have been removed. Canvas shoes, sandals and boots are not permitted.
- Both white and black socks are permitted.
We always have a large amount of lost property. Therefore, please ensure all uniform is clearly labelled.
We have tried to keep our school uniform as accessible as possible. We continue to work closely with local suppliers in order to provide parents with a range of options for purchasing uniform, including online shopping. All uniform items can also be obtained second hand. Click here for more information.

Please note (for students in years 7–11):
- Students may wear a watch, one plain ring, and up to one single small stud earring in each ear. No other jewellery is permitted. Bracelets are not allowed, except for religious purposes. In such cases, students must provide a note or parents/carers should contact the Head of Year. Hooped or drop earrings are not allowed. Jewellery like bracelets and hooped earrings pose risks during physical activities and practical lessons.
- Facial piercings cannot be worn in school. Clear, plastic nose studs can be worn in school, providing that they are not visible and do not protrude out of the skin. Metal piercings are not allowed.
- Hairstyles should be neat and tidy, and should not reflect extremes of fashion, for example, patterns in hair or bright colours.
- Students should not wear excessive make-up. False eyelashes are not acceptable.
- Coloured nail varnish is not allowed, and false nails must not be worn. These are unsuitable for school, especially during practical subjects such as PE, Science, and Technology.
Why do we care about tags on trainers?
We need to draw the line somewhere with uniform. Allowing black trainers is already a major concession. Decorative tags push the boundaries further and undermine the uniform policy. If students do not want to take the tags off their trainers then they should wear more traditional school shoes.
Why the jewellery restrictions?
Again, it’s about consistency and safety. Hooped earrings and bracelets can pose risks in school, especially during physical activities. Fake nails also present safety concerns in practical lessons. We have rules to be fair to everyone, and we need all students to follow them.
What happens if these rules aren't followed?
If students have any of these items on, they will be issued a behaviour point. Tutors and teachers will confiscate jewellery. Regular uniform line-ups take place throughout the school year, and checks take place during tutor time. Students will be sanctioned if they are consistently getting it wrong.
