Raising the Participation Age (RPA)

Since September 2013 students have not been able to automatically leave school at 16 years of age. Students are required to continue with education until at least the end of the academic year that sees them turn 17 years of age. This can be in:

  • full time study with Little Heath School or another school or college.
  • full time work combined with education or training
  • an apprenticeship.

From 2015 students will be requested to be have chosen one of the three options above until the end of the academic year in which they are 18 years of age.
